Public Opinion on How to Fix This Economy

My idea is for every person who makes over $175000 combined family income, the government should take $10 to $20 a month to pay off the bailout and continue this practice to pay off all other deficits. I know that the deficit will continually grow, but the rich will not miss a few bucks from their wallets and added up, the monthly 'donations' from the rich will be phenomenal. Looking at the 2005-2007 US Census; American Community Survey 3-Year Estimates shows that there are 3.7% households out of 111,609,629 with $200,000 or more income; or 4.8% out of 74,625,059 families which is 3582002.8 families. Now, if I did the math right, and assuming an average family size of 5 with 2 parents and 3 kids per family, that would be approximately 143281.12 parents. Now figure that 2/3rds of them work... about 94566 people. Then multiply that by $20 a parent = $1891310.70 X 12 months =$22,695,728 a year. I realize that don't seem like much considering the deficit balance, but when you consider what the auto industry needed, then this amount seems to really show it's value. I am sure that there are plenty of you who will be able to correct my math and point out plenty of flaws, but the idea is out there now.

  1. Oh, well now I see how that link stuff works, as I clicked on the title and it took me to the us census Bureau. Now all I have to do is figure out how I am going to get people to read my blog. As of now, I am just talking to myself!

  3. Well, anyhow, back to the blog... What's the use, at $1.2 Trillion, it would be futile. But I think it is still an option for the states to think about, instead of them getting their hands in on the bailout money. Gee, I feel like I am just talking to myself. Knock, Knock,... Is anybody out there?!! Hellooo...
